The IACC recently conducted an in-person training event with Homeland Security Investigations and Customs Border Protection at the Port of Newark. Training was conducted at their facility in Elizabeth, New Jersey with over 60 law enforcement officials that also included the New Jersey State Police, local police departments and prosecutors.
The event began with a trade-fair exercise, allowing brand representatives to provide hands on authentication experience for law enforcement, followed by several presentations; The Prosecution of Trademark Counterfeiting, CBP’s Role in IPR Efforts, Counterfeiting and Terrorism, HSI IP Case Study and The IACC Law Enforcement Training App, which permits brand materials to be accessed 24/7/365 by law enforcement.
The IACC would like to extend our appreciation to HSI and CBP for their assistance in organizing this event. The IACC strongly supports law enforcement for their service.
A special thanks to Jim Ricaurte and his team from Allegiance Protection Group for their assistance in making this a successful training.
This event is part of the IACC’s U.S. Law Enforcement IP Training Program, providing authorities throughout the country with valuable insights drawn from brand member and staff expertise. In 2021, our program conducted virtual training for an international audience from HSI, and CBP at the ports of New York, Newark, and San Francisco. More training is planned for 2022.
