IACC Law Enforcement Training Summary

Port of Spain

August 21, 2024

The IACC recently organized Industry Trade Day at a Workshop co-sponsored by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, at the Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

The workshop was held at the Customs and Excise Office and focused on intellectual property enforcement during two days of government and industry training and industry participation. Officials from Trinidad and Tobago’s Customs Department participated with rights holders sharing their expertise with small group instruction and hands-on product identification.

The IACC moderated the panel on Public Private Partnerships in the U.S. for the benefit of local Customs seeking to build similar collaboration in the Port of Spain.

This program provides authorities the tools to act strategically in the detection and seizure of counterfeit goods and deter sales of counterfeit products. The IACC introduced our Law Enforcement Training App to Customs executives.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection for the opportunity to organize Industry Trade Day. These collaborative efforts serve to strengthen the partnerships needed between government and industry with emphasis on health and safety concerns of counterfeit goods and their connection to transnational organized crime.
